Invasive Ads

  • 6

So, I selected a thread that I have been following, and as I was scrolling down to find the new posts, I was redirected to a full screen ad. When I selected CLOSE, the new posts on that thread had collapsed as though I had read them.

This is a bug, not a feature!

  1. Agreed. This happened to me once, and I was not happy. Something that would definitely stop me from coming back if it continues.

    1. Any ad as agressive as you describe is certainly against our advertising policy. Sometimes an overly agressive ad sneaks past our ad team. If you see this again, please id the advertiser and take a screen shot if you can so we can track it down.

To clarify, I didn't click on any ad to my knowledge. Next time, i will do a screen shot.

I didn't click either - it took over the whole page and had one of the 'content will be available after this advertisement' messages.

It only happened once, but I will definitely note it if it happens again.

      2. This just happened to me as well. The ad was OLD NAVY, which I did not click to view. It just happened. When I located the X-Close button, I was redirected to the post I was reading with all the new posts collapsed as though I had already read them.
FWIW, this was on the NAF board.
Thanks for looking into this. It is a major defect.

        1. Just on the Cheese Board - hadn't clicked anything and all of a sudden I was redirected to this page: http://sponsor.adverstitial.com/view/... - it said that after 30 seconds I'd be directed back to my original window or I had an option to close the window. I opted for closing and returned to the same spot that I was on the Cheese Board, a little more than halfway down the posts (I wasn't actually in a thread at the time).

I see that the link I posted doesn't go anywhere - the page I saw had a banner at the top of the page and I *think* it might have had a car in it / been car related, but I won't swear to that.
