I haven't been to Chinois for a couple of years. They used to make an excellent duck with plum sauce and bao. Is it still good? Anyone tried it lately---within the last few months?

  1. Have not tried it lately, but agree it was very good. A signature dish. I expect it is still very good.

    1. The thing I love about Chinois is the consistency of the food and service.
I can be guaranteed of having the dishes I love at Chinois tasting exactly the same each time. It's the mark of a great restaurant, in my opinion.
No doubt it's as you remembered.

Puck has always done great duck. The original Spago had fantastic duck.

      2. Terrific!

        1. If you like the Chinois faux Peking Duck, I think WP24 does a better version.

Chinois calls it Cantonese duck. So I guess it isn't faux Peking, unless all Cantonese food is faux Peking.

They serve it with plum sauce and steamed buns. If that's not replicating Peking style duck, then I don't know what is.

I accept you don't know what is.

Ok, then it's just faux Cantonese.

                  Or maybe it's just faux.

Or maybe it's your faux pas.

          2. the duck fried rice at Chinois is one of my favorite dishes.

I've never eaten at Chinois without ordering the duck fried rice.
                Love it.
