Chantilly Bakery in Bronxville

Chantilly has been open for a while, but since I do a lot of baking myself, AND I am doing Weight Watchers, I have had few opportunities to try their baked goods. My son asked me to pick up something for his breakfast on the way back from my WW meeting, so I stopped at Chantilly.

First, let me say that they're not giving anything away. The prices are quite high. But let me also say that I found the quality to be excellent with a very home-made taste. My son wanted an apple turnover, which they had, and which I bought. Since he is 17 and this was going to be a late breakfast, I also bought a raspberry and almond pastry as well as a loaf of bread. I tasted everything, and it was all excellent. The pastries were buttery and flaky with very fresh-tasting fillings that weren't too sweet. The bread was the big surprise. I got one of those baguette type loaves that have snipped edges that turn the bread into small individual loaves. It was super, and might have been sourdough.

I definitely recommend this place if you're not adverse to having you wallet lifted for some excellent baked goods. All totaled, I spent $15 including an iced coffee.

I think that is the place with Cronuts.

Yes, cronuts are on Sunday morning only, and the vanilla one is amazing.

I'll never get there on time. I'm in Goldens Bridge - way too far on Sunday morning!

How long have they been there? I drive by there several times a week and never noticed them.

I'm not sure-- maybe about a year? They are opposite the train station on the Manhattan-bound side.

Yes, I looked them up. The prices are very steep. But that's the new Bronxville for you. I miss the old days when prices for food and drink were reasonable here.
