Singapore, around National Library, with a tourist

Dear board,

I'm coming back to Singapore, with a tourist friend to whom I want to show the best of Singaporean cuisine - but we are only staying one night.

Do you have a recommendation where we can go with a group of friends (somewhere with a nice atmosphere), that has the signature Sg dishes, and not too far from the National Library, where we are staying?

    Bras Basah area seems to be the area where you are going to hunt for good food. While it is not ideal, it is also quite near some interesting dining spots. Go to Yet Con or Chin Chin on Purvis Street for Hainanese chicken rice and Hainanese pork chops.

    Liang Seah Street has a few steamboat restaurants which you may want to take a peek at.

    Bugis Junction has a few interesting restaurants and a nice food court.
