Looking for a Thai or Indian restaurant near the Newark Museum for late lunch or early dinner. Price is not an issue.

  1. There used to be a very good Thai place on Halsey Street, just a few doors in from the corner of Washington St.--but it's an order-at-the counter situation, not a full-service restaurant. Just a few (safe) blocks south of the museum. Sorry I have no clue about the name!

Thanks. I will check it out. We are looking for a Thai because my friend has a gluten problem & Thai restaurants seem to work well for her.

Ahh...that makes sense. My other rec would be a drive in ti the Ironbound where you can go to Seabra's Marisqueria--tons of seafood and fish that you/she could get plain.

I second the Thai joint. I ate a lot of their food (happily) during law school.

Curlz, I think you are thinking of House of Thai, which is located just off Washington St on New St. (about three blocks from the museum. Halsey St is nearly a mile from the museum, IIRC

You may be right...Robert's Puzza used to be on the corner of Wash, a few doors to the left of this place?

Sounds like the same place. I have only been to House of Thai once, and was not driving, but I do remember it being near a pizza joint. I googled and there is a Roberts Pizzeria on New St right near Washington.
