From Michael Klein. Shame, their food wasn't bad.

  1. That is too bad, as their food was fine. But maybe that was the problem - there's a lot of competition in that area and their "just fine" food didn't cut it?

It probably didn't help that they had an absentee celebrity chef and an unfocused menu. But yeah, competition on the Avenue has gotten a lot stiffer even in the short time since they moved to that location as Salt and Pepper: Stateside, Noord, and Will have all opened since then, and Fond moved to its new location. I liked my meals there but with all the other great options in the neighborhood I still only went there twice, once when it was Salt and Pepper and then again once they changed it to Sophia's. It's a great space though, someone will succeed there. Maybe the current owner is taking it in a new direction again.
