Serendipitous find in Katy - GREAT CAJUN!!

So, actually, I was lost. Looking for an auto-body repair shop. When I stumbled into what looked like a used-pickup lot. Turned out it's a great Cajun restaurant: Good Ole' Boys!!

I know that it's a bit of a trek for most of y'all, but it's worth it, I think. The place is open-air, and you sit around at picnic tables. There are buckets of crawdads and cold beer and fun. There's been live music every time we've been there. And there's a sandbox for the kids.

I'm telling you, if you like Cajun, pack up the babies and grab the old ladies and everyone goes. It's a destination, a family event.

The first time we went, my son-in-law was sitting there, looking around, with a big smile on his face. Finally, he said, "Why haven't we been coming to this place for years?"

Because we didn't know about it, son.

But, thankfully, now we do.

And you do, too.

    What have y'all tried?

    Anything you didn't like?

Has anyone tried the "Cajun Fried Chicken"?
    BBQ?
    Gumbo?
    Fried okra?

    Only open Thursday through Saturday?

Various members of our little groups have tried everything you mentioned, and it's all wonderful.

Except for the barbecue. I tried it, and didn't like it much. Passed it around a bit. Nobody was too impressed.

Unlike those boudin balls. The first time we tried those, we didn't order enough and a fight broke out at our table.

Now, we know enough to order a lot of them.

      Fabulous.

That would be fun, Doobs. It's open air, so it's pretty hot in the afternoons right now. So some evening? Or shall we wait a bit longer, until fall really arrives?

Let's wait a week or two until it starts to cool off.

            Keep in touch.

Them's crazy folks. I ran into them at an event ca. 1996-7. Went out there a few years later looking for them and the place looked like it hadn't been used in months so I thought they had gone out of business. Good to know they're still around.

I think the place always looks like that. I drove over there a short time back and it was a day that it wasn't open. I, too, wondered it they had gone out of business. But nope, they were still in business, just not open on Tuesday, the day I had come. Like I told you, I was searching for an auto-body shop when I stumbled across it and, from the looks of the place, initially thought I had found one.

        Them ARE "crazy folks"!

Why don't we pick an evening, Bruce, and you and Doobs and I, and anyone else that would like to try it, can meet up there?

This needs to wait until the weather cools off considerably. I am not fond of al fresco dining in the Houston heat and humidity.
