New Menu at Valentino

Just had a lot of items from the brand new menu at Valentino. It is fantastic. There were so many highlights that it is hard to name just a few but ---

Cannoli filled with tuna mousse
Cuttlefish with artichokes and bottarga
Seafood rice balls
Veal brain fritters
Spaghetti with sea urchin
Lamb stew with red wine

That's just a few - too many to mention. Absolutely terrific!

  1. Great sea urchin preparations are defined by David Lentz and his Hungry Cat restaurants. The cannoli sounds interesting. I have followed Piero since he was Giannin Paoletti's partner at Peppone. I wish him all the best. Don't know that these new menu items will reverse his course. I am also curious if you are still a great fan of Villetta?

    1. Do you recall the menu prices? If they are as high as they used to be, I doubt that I will go. Are they open for lunch?
      Is there a happy hour? Thanks.

      2. To be honest Villetta is just not in the same league as Valentino - we will go for a quick pizza and it's close to home. Valentino only does lunch on Fridays - no happy hour. I didn't see the bill, but it is not out of sight crazy expensive and portions are more than generous.

                Nope.

                it's off the market.

                He was essentially testing the waters to see what he could get for it.

                And most of the buyers were an absolute insult to him.

                  Looks like you believed the press release printed in the L.A. Times. Piero wanted to sell. He still does. He wasn't testing the waters. Potential buyers will tell you the asking price was inflated and unrealistic. Was the insulted party the seller or the potential buyer? It depends on your POV.
                  Yes, food is served in the bar.

                    You are correct.

                    And sometimes one wants to cover their ass so the real reason is not divulged.

                    But do you have first-hand info on the matter ? Not that it completely matters since I'm happy that they are still in operation so I can try out the goods.

                  Kevin, there is still time to pay $175.00 for the Alex Loves Lemonade Stand at Culver Studios on September 28, noon to four Connie and Ted's are serving fried oyster sandwiches with cole slaw,unlimited scoops of ice cream of Sweet Rose Creamery and you can have as many hot dogs as you like from the Pink's Hot Dog Truck. Full open bar all afternoon and full raw bar from Hungry Cat. Bring a kid under twelve and that kid gets in free. Jimmy Fallon and Neil Patrick Harris are hosting. Great celeb sightings.Your $$ help to fight childhood cancer. It is really a good feeling and you will leave feeling full and very satisfied about what you accomplished (besides getting to taste amazing food cooked by amazing chefs).

                        Last year the guys from Sotto and from Animal and Son of a Gun had great food. Looking forward to so many others this year. Wait until you taste the pizza from Arizona!! OMG.
