Driving from Bridgeport, CT to Newport in a few weeks. Looking for a nice lunch spot on the way to and from.

Got a GREAT rec from Chowhounds a few years back for Cleonice in Ellsworth, ME

Same type of place would be fine.

THANKS !

Claire's in New Haven. Very good. Lots of vegetarian offerings
Elizabeth's in Madison. Expensive, but very good.
Clam Castle for fried seafood, very casual in Madison
Friends and Company in Madison. Homestyle cooking.
Bill's Seafood in Westbrook. Cash only. Good seafood. Casual

I always stop in Mystic for lunch on my way to Newport. Good places are: Bravo Bravo, Azu, S and P Oyster House, Anthony J's. All are good.

If you are looking for causal:
Great lobster roles at Lobster Landing in Clinton, super burgers at Haywire in Westbrook, dynamite pizza at Alforno in Old Saybrook. All right off I 95.
