Labor Day Lunch in/around Hartford?

We are driving back to NYC from NH on Labor Day. Looking for a good (delicious, simple, interesting) restaurant that's NOT BURGERS--my Dutch mother-in-law just won't go for it. Any suggestions in and around Hartford would be appreciated. We're traveling along Hwys 91 & 84.

We always enjoyed Peppercorns Grill. It's right off 91. It has been around for a while, but we always enjoyed their food and service. If you like a NY style deli, there's Reins deli on 84. In Evergreen Walk in Manchester, right off of 84, there's Burton's Grill and Ted's Montana Grill. There's Frank Pepe's for a white clam pizza. There's the Max restaurants, Max Downtown, Max Amore, Max Fish in Hartford and Glastonbury. All not far from the highway. All have very good food and service.

Well, I wouldn't even begin to suggest CT pizza for a bunch of New Yorkers, but that said, downtown Hartford has some pretty nice options...Trumball Kitchen (sp?), agree with any of the Max's restaurants (Hartford, WH, Glastonbury, etc.)...Once on 84, West Hartford has some new choices, but I can't suggest any as I haven't gotten out much lately.
