Old Mill Inn, Mattituck, NY

We have not eaten in this restaurant for a couple of years since the new ownership took over. We went back to try it out. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay that was undrinkable and returned it. The other two drinks at the table were fine. Prices were STEEP, considering that salads and veggies were extra. Salads were so small, and $12 each. My crab cakes were really bread cakes and they were served somewhat between cool and lukewarm and had to be returned for re-heating. Three of us ordered fish and chips, as it was one of the least expensive menu items and we wanted to mitigate damages. For the fish and chips, the breading tasted good but was very soggy. The order of salmon, which was almost $30 was small and too raw to eat on the inside. The 'family' sized spinach order was tiny and extremely oily.

There were very few customers for a Friday night, so maybe the word is out. It was a waste of $80 per couple and definitely not worth it. The interior looked fine, but bring your flashlight or flashlight phone app to read the menu as the lighting was dimmed way down.

We loved the place and the location when Gerry Daly owned it.
We tried it a couple of times since the new owners took over. All I can say is way too much Manhattan attitude, poor service, high prices and mediocre food. Ugh!!
Too bad, the location is priceless.

      Motosport,

The location is priceless, but not good for attracting people passing by as it is on a dead end.

The lack of clients on a holiday weekend Friday night indicates that a lot of people have gotten the message and have come up with the same conclusions that you and I have.

I totally agree with what you say.

We too loved it under the old ownership/chef. Had 2 disappointing, if not embarrassing meals here this year. We miss the old and won't go back.

We will not go back also, until it is under new ownership.

The Fox News Fan club must be supporting them.

Greta should have stuck to doing the news and sailing her 80' yacht and leave the restaurant business to the professionals.

Too many people just like her, doing this as a "vanity" project. Oh my friends will all come and hang out, blah blah blah. If you got the money, I guess more power to you.

                Ok, not fair...who is Greta?

I had dinner there two years ago, maybe three, and have never been back. Not sure if this would have been before or after the change in ownership.

I know her from the OJ Simpson trial, trying to give her the benefit of the doubt though.

Greta is Greta Van Susterin, from FOX-News.
