smoked salmon tray

bumble Aug 29, 2013 11:14 AM

Where can I get a smoked salmon tray that doesn't include bagels & breads, I would like the tray to include whitefish salad.

it would be ideal if the place was within in city limits, but I wouldn't be opposed to driving 20 minutes outside of the city.

Famous 4th Street Deli will do one without bagels and breads

Yeah in the city they have the best smoked salmon... definitely get the nova over the lox (actually smoked vs cured/brined) -- a lot of places sell "smoked salmon" that is actually lox. Their whitefish is good too.

Creekside Co-op in Elkins Park makes nice fish trays and will put whatever you want on it. In particular, I think their whitefish salad is about the best I've ever had.

Steve Stein's in Krewstown would do one. They are quite good.

Hymies in Lower Merion would be another option.I hear they have a drive through window now.

"...drive-through window." That was something!!! But I heard they were up and running again in no time.

I've heard nothing but raves about the Creekside Co-op with regard to the quality of the food they carry. Pricing is a whole other story. I know they're struggling a bit, financially, these days. I hope they last.

I think business has picked up recently. Their prices really aren't that bad. Quite competitive on many items, though other things are pricey. For example, today they had local IPM honeycrisp apples for $2.49/lb, with other varieties at $1.99. I haven't seen better.

They are offering fish trays for $17.50 per person (min. 10), I just looked and Famous 4th Street is at $21 for the same thing.
