Mexican in San Jose

rdesmond Aug 27, 2013 08:38 AM

I used to eat all over town, Reynoso sisters, Trini's, etc. but haven't been to SJ for many years. Is there anything Mexican in or near downtown SJ?

For great Oaxacan, try Monte Alban. 960 S 1st. Their mole can't be beat.

A bit further up in Japantown, Taqueria Corona at 601 N 4th. They have good fried snapper, daily menudo, and birria de borrego (Fri-Sun.)

My co-workers mentioned to me, I haven't tried yet:
      Super Taqueria
      476 S. 10th St, SJ CA 95112

I've been to the Super Taqueria in Salinas, and it's good but not great. However, my mother feels the one in Morgan Hill is better. So, it could be that the San Jose location is better too.

Mezcal has been pretty good, not great, for sit down Mexican / Oaxacan in downtown San Jose. I haven't been there in a year or two though.
