Healdsburg General Store

Melanie Wong Aug 26, 2013 12:45 PM

Powell's Sweet Shoppe in Healdsburg is no more, replaced by Healdsburg General Store. When I walked in yesterday, I asked the woman at the counter who greeted me if this was a new concept from the same owner or what. She said it was completely new ownership and new focus. However, this post from Powell's saying good-bye at the end of the franchise arrangement says otherwise.

And the new page says the Finnan family is still the owner.

In any case, the main attraction here is still candy, sodas, and Gelato Classico. The candy selection in particular has been cut back from my last time in Powell's, and there are some tableware and pantry items available. Despite the poster art in the windows, there's no fresh produce inside currently. The aim is to offer unique local products and the selection will probably continue to evolve.
