Labor Day Brunch

Friends are coming to town (from Brooklyn) and we would like to take them out for a very nice brunch-- the catch: it will be Labor Day Monday. We live in Porter/Davis but are flexible on location. Ideally, I would love something hip but laid back and very delicious (we are not too concerned about price). Does anyone know of such a place serving brunch on Labor Day? Thanks so much!

Wow, that's tough! How about just a nice lunch? Check out all the new places in Kendall Sq. should fund something suitable. Maybe Dante on memorial drive?

restaurants in hotels that serve breakfast may be your only hope here, like the bristol lounge, clink or henrietta's table. none are especially hip, i know, but labor day is a dead day in boston, so i don't see anybody making a special effort to open just for brunch, sorry.

even these places will stop serving breakfast at 11:00-11:30 and then start lunch.

Thanks to both of you. I think brunch was our first reaction because it feels like a weekend day to us, but I think you are both right that a lovely lunch is probably the best bet and gives us the most options.

for the most part, since the city is pretty empty that day, you should have a very laid-back lunch. have fun!

You could go to the industry brunch at Trina's Starlite Lounge. It gets very crowded on Monday holidays but they usually open at 11 on those days.
