New BYOB Restaurant in Spring House

the chef from san marco is opening up the closed mina cucina space in a couple weeks. will be called po le cucina. i have always heard food at san marco was some of the best around, and now BYOB should make this place a winner. maybe if there is interest, someone that knows how to arrange a group chowhound dinner could do so. for more info:

      I have never been a fan of San Marco either. I love a good BYOB. Hopefully, this new restaurant will not be reminiscent of SM.

        1. Planning on trying Po Le cucina this evening, opened for business 9/4. Will post our findings.

            1. The food was great. Had an entre sized seafood risotto to share as a starter, rice could have been cooked a little more creamier, seafood was scallop shrimp, muscles , and clams. All were fresh and sweet. Wife had grilled salmon, I had rack of lamb. Lamb was medium rare and excellent. Wife loved salmon. Each had veggies and potatoes . Also had side of spinach/garlic and pene fradivalo. Service excellent, chef came out to check on overall experience
              Would definitely go back.

              2. Thanks for the heads-up. Based on that, we made a reservation for tonight (Sept 7). Just glad it's another BYOB!

                    The waitstaff and management were working really hard to make sure the patrons were happy. Our appetizers were fine - I got a caprese and roasted pepper plate, and my husband got the shrimp cocktail - both of which are hard to screw up but also hard to put your mark on..

                    My fish was...exactly what would be served at a dockside restaurant: perfectly cooked but not much in the way of taste going on. My husband's chicken dish was okay - not sure what else to say - it was cooked right, and tasted fine, but wasn't very ...exciting. As someone firmly entrenched in middle age, it pains me to say this, but it was what we imagine that Old People like. It was good, simple food and with nothing too "out there" being done to it. The other patrons, who were mostly quite a bit older than us, seemed very happy.

                    We are going to go back and try the pasta before making a judgement about the place.

                      Thanks for the prompt. See review above: it was good food, well prepared, but not particularly...Chowhound-ish.
