shrimp rolls in Seattle?

  • 8

So, I'm looking, for my wife, for a place that serves good shrimp rolls - shrimp salad in a soft, hot-doggy style bun. Comments? I hope I can pay this forward to someone else who is looking for same!
Thanks, Chowhound!

  1. Pike Place Chowder:

Note that they also make crab & salmon rolls.

Shrimp rolls are also on the menu now as a "premium signature sandwich" at the Panera Bread chain:

Thanks, Gizmo56 - Panera Bread is close to us, although I would bet that pikeplacechowder would be more authentic. thanks for the ideas!

I agree. Panera uses bigger shrimp and a less "hot-doggy" kind of a roll. It's good, but it's a little different. Pike Place Chowder is right on the money with their preparation, and they use good sustainable bay shrimp from Oregon.

I just don't like bay shrimp so that's deal breaker for me.

    2. This sounds like something that could pop up at The Walrus and The Carpenter every once in a while, but that is idle speculation.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but Jemil's Big Easy's fried shrimp po' boy is downright delicious.

      2. Not shrimp, but Ballard Oyster Annex does amazing lobster and crab rolls :)

I looked up the menu at Ballard Annex Oyster House and I noticed that they also offer shrimp rolls as the daily special on Mondays. Good tip!
