One night in Burlington VT

  • 8

In Burlington for one night for work -- where should we go for dinner? Type of food and price do not really matter, just best food in the area. Thanks!

  1. We'll be there on a Monday, so looks like Misery Loves Co. and Pistou are out. Anything other than Guild & Co. and Trattoria Delia I should look in to? If not, of those two, which would you suggest? Thanks!

    1. I always like a Single Pebble. Excellent chinese food. Open on Monday.

      1. I'm really fond of Das Bierhaus but I don't know if it is open on a Monday night.

        1. Nika on Church Street is a great option for creative dining and great bar options.

          1. We were having a drink at the Champlain Valley Fair last weekend and a gentleman asked if we tried EB Strong steak house on Church Street.
He highly recommended it, but being on our way home, did not get to try it.

Perhaps others on the board can comment?

I have not been, although I walk by it a fair amount. It seems very expensive by Burlington standards for what you get. ($50 for a steak that isn't even local). The only people I find highly recommending it happen to be the place's purveyors.

Hehe, in this instance, the guy doing the recommending works for/with the Halversons.....

There was recently a write up by Alice Levitt at 7 Days about this place. She generally only eats at places for $30 or less, so she had lunch there.

                Her write up:

The reviews for it on the 7 nights restaurant site are all limited to the first weeks of its operation. My impression of Alice's observation is that it's a high end restaurant on the order of Keene's in NYC where you'll pay upwards of $70 for a steak (I had a lamb "chop" there, it was incredible and huge). This place is on my list of places we'll go for an anniversary dinner. Though not this year. This year we're going to Solstice, the new place at Stowe Mountain Lodge. :)
