I heard a rumor that they were going to open where the former Fresh Market, or whatever that one was called, in the mall near the shipyard...

I haven't heard anything about Fresh Market closing and I really hope it isn't!!! Their website is functioning and listing specials for week of August 21st through the 27th.

That's amazing; any time I've been there, you could fire a cannon ball thru the store, and hit no one...

I know! I haven't heard anything about FM closing either, but I'm surprised it's still open. I NEVER see anyone in there and I know of NOBODY who shops there. It's a pretty store, though.

Maybe you haven't been there at the right times! After work it is always busy with boat commuters, and sunday mornings is single-dad-living-in-the-shipyard time. I like the store, generally. They have a couple of things I can't live without, including my "crack" of the moment - Abbruzze cheese spread. Also love their roasting chickens.

Yes, it was just in the wicked local. Oct opening next to CVS and Vitamin Shoppe. I posted a link on FB, let me go find it. You can see the construction is getting close.

There have been rumors floating about FM for about 6 months now. I would have no issue if they closed. Prefer the Fruit Center (or Fruit Museum as I like to call it) over FM.

The latest rumor in the Shipyard is Target is in talks with the MBTA to buy a portion of the parking lot to support opening a store there too.

Here is the link to TJ's:

That would be nice to have a Trader Joes in Hingham. I like the Fruit Center in Milton but I'm still a fan of Fresh Market

Have you been to the one down then road from FM in Hingham? Better produce, better butcher (run separately), then FM. Awesome salad bar, albeit $$. Good GF section, notable sweets/baked goods, knowledgable wine shop attached. Pricing is fairly comparable on average though FM does run some good specials.

I haven't because I assumed it was run by the same people as Milton and so there would be few differences. I'll have to give it a try.

There's one in Milton run by the same family -- they're identical stores IMO.

It'll certainly be easier than driving to Hanover!

The Trader Joe's is going in near the CVS in the shipyard...it is not replacing the Fresh Market which isn't going anywhere...the Trader's will be in a new building under construction at the moment.

I certainly hope the Fresh Market (which was open at the beginning of August) stays around. It's like Whole Foods but without the boring grocery stuff (sadly TJs also has a lot more boring grocery stuff now than they did when they opened on the east coast.) The good parts version!
