Romantic San Fran restaurant with a more varied menu?

  • 6

My boyfriend and I will be taking a trip to San Francisco in September, staying at the Marriott Marquis in the Financial District. We’d like to dress up and go to a nice romantic dinner the first night (Friday) and many of the places that are recommended have limited menus. I’d like to find a place that has a good variety of items (ie: chicken, steak, fish) at a somewhat reasonable price (around $30 per entrée). I’m thinking of going to Alfreds Steakhouse but it would be great to find a place with a view. Any suggestions?

Epic's a good call. The menu's quite varied and the prices on the non-steakhouse items are relatively reasonable.

    2. I would choose Bix. It doesn't have a view but the menu and vibe should work.

I second Bix. The view is on the inside; classic, old-world San Francisco vibe with a live pianist in the background, stunning Sidecars, and tartare to die-for.

I'll third Bix for all the reasons Carrie mentions.

      2. Cafe Claude is very romantic
