Font is hard to read

I've been off the boards for a couple of weeks, and returning today, it looks like the font for messages has been changed. Whatever it is, I find it very difficult to read. I am running a PC with Windows XP. It is only an issue through IE8, not through Firefox. Anyone else find it difficult to read? Anyone have a solution?

  1. You may have changed some settings on your computer or for the browser (not saying it was deliberate).

How about if you choose View, then Zoom? Or maybe you can change the settings in Preferences?

Nope, I haven't changed any settings. I'm pretty comfortable with that. Zooming in or out doesn't make much of a difference. It's just a difficult font to read.

    2. We're not sure what the issue would be here. lisavf, could you take a screenshot of what you are seeing (perhaps one from Firefox and one from IE8 to compare)?

It's not horrible, but it's definitely a different font, and for me, it's hard to read. Maybe I need new glasses...

      2. I'm on a Mac running OS X 10.8.4.

When I reading a thread, the CH page briefly flashes and the font changes. Then 30 seconds later or so, it switches back. Very annoying. This just started happening in the last week.

It goes from a dark font to a lighter font. It's actually happened since I've been typing this message.

I'm having the same on my Mac (OS X 10.7.5); the font itself doesn't change, but it gets lighter.

Hi JKDLady and queenscook. We suspect this might be related to an ad on the page; we'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for your reports.

I've been noticing this same font lightening (that is to say, getting lighter) again, starting a day or two ago.

        2. Hi lisavf, thanks for your report. We're not sure what might've caused a difference in font usage in IE8, but we actually no longer support that version of the browser, only the two most recent versions (IE9 and IE10).
