Manhattan Chowhound on 3-Day Trip

  • 2

Going to SF for the first time next weekend. Primary purpose is to see friends, but no reason we can't catch up over good wine and food. Will be in the Tenderloin/Nob Hill/Russian Hill neighborhoods.

Would appreciate a few good lunch recommendations (moderate or fine with prix fixee) along with a couple dinner recommendations (one casual tap room/wine bar with good food and one great restaurant). This isn't a food pilgrimage so I'm not shooting for 2-3 Michelin star type places, and certainly no long tasting menus (Sons & Daughters is on the bubble for this reason).

Cuisine wise, I eat pretty much everything, but while I'm here would like to try out what this city does best. For instance, Nopa sounds perfect. I eat ethnic food quite often in NYC, but with the exception of Chinatown dim sum, doubt I will eat on on this trip (recommendations appreciated).

  1. Try Francis..Tadich Grill, Slanted Door, Swan Oyster Depot, and The House.

    1. Bar Jules in Hayes Valley is good for lunch (and dinner).
