Regional Brazilian in Newark area?

bm1982 Aug 22, 2013 08:05 AM

I'm from the NE of Brazil -- anyone know where I can get some regional specialities (moqueca, vatapá, carurú, carne de sol c/abóbora, etc) in perhaps a more laid-back atmosphere (don't need parrots and plastic palm trees) than most of the places in Newark? Nothing against churrasco but it's not really the food I grew up with. It seems like there has to be a little café somewhere...Any ideas? Thanks!

Without knowing if it's the answer, I'll recommend you look at the Samba menu--www.montclairsamba.com

Look at Delicias de Minas, http://deliciasdeminasrestaurant.com on McWhorter St. Buffet with pricing by the pound. Basic, but good, so I'm told (no personal experience). Not exactly NE Brazil, but maybe more authentic than some.
