Chicago Restaurant near Doubletree Magnificent Mile?

  • 7

Hi All,
Three of us are going to be in Chicago for two nights in September. I was hoping for some dinner recommendations within walking distance of our hotel. We're staying at the Doubletree Magnificent Mile which is a 5 min walk from the Navy Pier (just to give everyone an idea of its location). It's a couple of blocks from the Magnificent Mile.

We'd like to have a great dinner out. We are already going to Graham Elliott Bistro one night (my sister would like to go there).
Any ideas of where to go on the second night? We'd really love to be wowed (though we don't want to spend $100/person without wine...). Any ideas?

Thanks so much,
S

  1. A long walk, but worth it- Purple Pig. Also I adore Cafe Spiaggia.

      Long walk? Isn't it about half a mile?

        @ferret "Isn't it about half a mile?"

        Curious about this so I entered the addresses into Mapquest and it's about 4 blocks, or 0.32 miles. You're right.

    2. I'm open to a short cab ride too!
      Lunch recommendations would be great as well :)

        Second the rec for Purple Pig. If a long wait time, have some wine at Eno Wine Bar. Cafe Spiaggia as 2nd choice.

        For lunch, check out Portillo's, Sable Kitchen, Hub 51, Au Cheval (West Loop), or David Burke Bacon Bar (just opened) at the James hotel.

      2. Cafe Spiaggia and Sable are good recs. Haven't been to Purple Pig. I'd throw in Bar Toma, too. Portillo's for lunch is always solid.
