Benriner mandoline offer--too good to be true?

Has anyone ordered from Bento and Co? They are offering all three Benriner mandolines--regular, super, jumbo--for $35! See

Wondering if I should take a chance...

  1. That looks like a good deal if you think you'll use all three. I bought my Classic model about 20 years ago for around $20, and it's going strong.

    1. I seem to recall from old mandoline threads that a lot of folks did buy from them and had good customer service. I think.

Thanks--I'll give them a shot. With the regular Benriner going for $32 on Amazon and $26+tax locally, and the Super going for over $50, I figure it's worth a try.

I did email them to make sure these are genuine Japanese Benriners and also to ask if there's any English with the instructions.

      2. It doesn't look like it includes all three to me, if you notice the drop down menu where you choose your size it has separate prices for each size mandoline.

        35 for the classic
        52 for the super
        48.50 for the jumbo

There is no option for a set

I think rasputina is correct. $35.00 for all 3 is way too good to be true....

Ah, I see what you mean! I didn't even see that little arrow for the drop down box. What threw me off was the line below that says: "This collection includes 3 different mandolines: CLASSIC, SUPER and JUMBO." That sentence actually appears in the shopping cart too--making it really look like you're getting all three.

I did include that question in my email to them. Good thing I didn't complete order yet! I'll just get the regular one locally for $26.

Ho hum. I was really excited for a minute there....

Problem with the local Asian store is that they have what appears to be two different ones but the box sizes are exactly the same. They seem to be the Super Benriner by the size and color, but "Super" doesn't appear on either box. And as I said, they are both $26--that price would be expected with the regular, not the Super. I guess I'll just have to ask if I can open the boxes to look at them.
