Angelo's Drive-In, Fresno

This morning an email from a friend asked if I'd ever been to Angelo's Drive-In, and included a link to an LA Times article that it was being shut down to make way for the high speed rail. Searching here only turned up this brief mention,

Before it's gone forever, any 'hounds want to tell us about it?

  1. Thanks for the tip - read the same article. Sad story, but great American success story for this couple too. I wish them the best and hope their regular patrons who are equally invested in this place find a new home ...with the money the state is offering them, take it or leave it.

    1. wait - this doesn't even make sense - how can they be doing this to this poor business when the project is in an uproar?

also, it might be 13 miles from madera to parts of fresno, or it might be 30 miles from madera to parts of fresno, but if they are saying it's 130 miles from madera to fresno, as this article states, then they might already BE high, and not need the train at all.

The 130 mile stretch is from Madera to Bakersfield.

      2. I have not eaten there, but you might enjoy this blog post:

Thank you, yes, I did. I like the look of the skin-on fries.

        2. I was there for lunch today one last time as a truck pulled up to take down the neon sign. Will miss this place. :(

          1. I lived in the area for a little over 10 years and heard nothing but great things about Angelo's, but never took the opportunity to dine there. I have since moved back to So Cal.
