Kuala Lumpur - San Peng "Kai See Hor Fun" (鸡丝河粉), Pudu

Finally sussed out this much talked-about chicken and shrimp noodles spot along Jalan San Peng, near Pudu LRT station. First impression stumped me: a ram-shackle, corrugated iron-roofed collection eating spot, with foldable tables and stools under the shade of large trees by the road.

Business was brisk, as most customers seemed to be regulars. I ordered a bowl of chicken-shrimp "hor fun": flat rice noodles topped with chicken shreds (Cantonese: "kai see"), small shrimps, beansprouts, and chives. The soup was savoury and tasted of chicken and shrimp - obviously Hokkien, as no other Chinese dialect group in Malaysia or Singapore mixes shrimp with other meats to obtain their soup stock, and reminiscent of the stock for Ipoh-style "kai see hor fun".

However, the "hor fun" noodles here were not as fine or smooth as Ipoh-style. Delicious concoction overall.
