Great shrimp in a lobster pound south of Freeport?

goldstt Aug 16, 2013 08:22 PM

Odd question, perhaps, but: I'm driving up to Maine with the fam.
Want the kids and wife to have a great lobster pound experience, but I prefer shrimp.
This is for lunch and we're going as far north as Freeport.
Any ideas welcome!

Maine shrimp season is a winter thing. The tiny Maine shrimp are fantastic. Very tender. But if they are frozen carefully they are almost as good as fresh. I've eaten frozen ones raw in sushi with no loss in quality.

Gold are you familiar with tiny sweet Maine shrimp, or are you looking for something else?

This time of year all Maine shrimp are frozen. That being said most seafood shacks will offer fried shrimp. Haraseeket lunch 'lobster in south Freeport definitely does as does lobster shack @ Two Lights.
