Knoxville lunch.

We plan to break a journey and stop for lunch in Knoxville - probably first going to listen to the midday live music at the Visitor Center on South Gay Street. Any thoughts for a casual lunch in the immediate vicinity of the Center? I see on the map "Market Square" is almost adjacent and names like that always suggest there's food nearby :-)

  1. In Market Square, I love the Tomato Head for sandwiches, salads, pizzas, etc. Also, there's the Tupelo Honey Cafe, which is a bit less casual, but very good and very popular. Tomato Head has my heart forever for their Cheddar Head sandwich, with roasted beef and onions, smoked cheddar, spicy mustard, and tomatoes. I wish I had one right now. Hope you have a great trip!

Many thanks. A good sandwich sounds perfect.

Is the Tupelo Honey Cafe linked with the same name restaurant in Asheville? I have shortlist of restaurants for dinner in the city and that's on it.

Yes, the Tupelo Honeys are from the same chef/owner. I believe there are 3 or 4 branches now. I've only been to the Knoxville version, and it was excellent.
