Chambersburg---End of an era

  • 5

Had tomato pie, salad and spaghetti at Papa's last night, where a sign by the register informed customers that a move to Robbinsville was imminent (about two weeks). Believe Papa's is the last of the old school tomato pie and red sauce joints left in Chambersburg. Fellow Trenton fans, let's comfort each other.

  1. It was my understanding that the Chambersburg site would remain open along with the new Robbinsville site.

No tomato pies but Rossi's is still open and going strong. They're noted for their burgers but their meatballs and tomato sauce are also excellent as are their other dishes.

    1. How much pizza's being eaten in Robbinsville? Within a mile or so of Papa's new location there's Gennaro's - best Brooklyn in the area, Tavola Barone - best small, brick oven pies, DeLorenzo's - most popular but not my fave, and Massimo's - not my fave either but still has it's devotees.

If it's any consolation, all these places are less than 10 mins from Chambersburg unless there's traffic.

Papa's is going to have the toughest traffic situation to deal with locally though. Left turns off 526 into that lot's a bear.

You forgot JoJo's at Five Points who, IMHO, has them all beat

And Brothers 33, and Vito's, and 4 or 5 other lesser-known places, just on 33 between 130 and Nottingham Way.
