Looking for a decent place to take my elderly parents to lunch after a visit to the Pine Barrens. (vic. Hammondton, Batsto)

I don't know which direction your going after leaving Batsto, but south east of there, on Great Bay is Oyster Creek. Allens is good depending on what you order. I always get the broiled scallops. There is a good Mexican place on main street in Hammonton. People have raved about Joe's Maplewood for 40 years, but I find it too crowded and I'm not a great lover of red sauce. There is another place in Hammonton that we like, but I can't remember the name and my wife is shopping. Get back to you.

You might want to consider Joe Italiano's Maplewood Inn in Hammondton ( http://www.joesmaplewood.com ) Some CH's thought the tomato sauce was too sweet. I can't comment on that as I've only had their seafood platters which I thought were excellent.

Another suggestion would be Allen's Clam Bar ( https://plus.google.com/1003705152996... ) in Bass River near New Gretna. I haven't eaten their but they get a lot of good reviews.

It's a shame that the Sweetwater Casino in Basto burned down in 2008. It would have been perfect for you and your parents.
