21st birthday dinner - fun, good food, not stuffy?

I read an earlier rec on the same topic for Culinary Dropout at Hard Rock. We were there last week and had a pretty good dinner before a concert. They have beer pong tables set up in the patio, so I agree that this is a great idea.

Does anyone have other ideas? we're going up with our son and his knucklehead friends at the the end of October.

  1. If you are here during Halloween you can see the Halloween parade on 4th St. Starts around 7pm,and goes up to Fremont St. where the par-tay begins.

The renovated Gold spike has a cool lounge, and a nice patio area now.

How big will the group be, and will you have a car?

    1. If you want something more upscale, but still fun, a couple of recommendations are the Barrymore, and Andiamo's steakhouse in the "D" downtown. Both "old-school" but definitely on the fun side. The Barrymore pours a mean cocktail.
I've not been to the gastropub at the Venetian (Public House, I believe) but people have been very positive in their takes on it.
At the Cosmo, I'd look at DOCG and maybe Jaleo (although Jaleo seems aimed at the bachlerotte crowd! Food is very good though).

I love Public House--and if any of your group enjoy craft beer, this place has a fantastic selection. The menu and list aren't large, but everything I've tried has been good.
It's not a "happening" atmosphere and no beer pong or anything like that, so might not be ideal for a 21st celebration.
I would definitely recommend though as a solid option for good food & great beer.
