Good music and food together? Starting out: Hill Country and Scott Kurt

What are the best places you know for good food and music together?

I heard Scott Kurt last night at Wolf Trap opening for Huey Lewis and the News on their Sports anniversary tour. He was terrific, and he is an up and coming star. When I checked a schedule, I saw that he is going to be at this Hill Country BBQ on Friday. (Hill Country's Backyard Barbecue! Featuring Hill Country’s award-winning Texas-style barbecue, ice-cold Shiner beers, and signature cocktails on the spacious and picturesque West Lawn of the National Building Museum (401 F Street, NW; www.nbm.org; 202.272.2448). Gates open at noon!).

I know that Mike R has told me of local venues that have good music, generally bluegrass, rock, blues -- all with pretty good food and really affordable prices.

I also know that Saturday night, the Havers will be at Murphy's Pub in Old Town Alexandria!

Can you contribute to a listing of cool venues to hear good music and get good food? Maybe keep this a rolling list of outstanding food + music events?

PS, I have no connection to the artist (nor Hill Country) I just mentioned, other than I saw Scott Kurt at Wolf Trap last night.

  1. Not a music guy but Hill Country has the best chili in DC. Don't miss it.
