King Street Eats, Northampton

Hi! My daughters and I checked out this new eatery today. It is across the street from Stop and Shop where the old Spoleto Express used to be.

The menu is varied, reasonably priced with lots of options (salads, sides, small plates, sandwiches). My girls split a torta (pork, black beans, avocado, tomato, lettuce, cheddar...they skipped the jalapeno). For $7 it was a bit small to split, but would have been a good sandwich for one. They both loved it. I ordered the Sabich (fried eggplant, hardboiled egg, greens, Israeli salad and a mango chutney on a toasted wheat pita). This was also $7 and was delicious....lots of interesting flavors and textures, very fresh tasting and a good value. The chef brought over a small plate of homemade tater tots as well, which were crunchy and greasy and very yummy!
I think this is a nice addition to the "fast food" landscape of King St. It seemed like they were doing a good business. Hope it succeeds.

  1. wow, didn't know it was there! thanks for the alert...

    1. We had Bahn mi, I wouldn't recommend that particular sandwich, but the falafel was very good as was the Brussels sprout salad.
One can call in an order and drive up for it, same asSpoleto Express.
Word has it they plan to serve breakfast also.

I noticed the Bahn mi, but figured I would stick with the one in Hadley (Bahn Mi Saigon), since that sandwich is so good. I was tempted to try the fried Brussels sprouts, but didn't.

would you say the falafel was better than Amanouz /Moti etc in the area, and if so, why? thanks!

I like amanouz falafel a lot; this was different but quite good.
Bahn Mi much better in Hadley .king st Eats is about convenience and variety. And parking.

Not yet. They are not organized about that yet. However I called one day and the manager read me the whole menu.

haha, that's great, guess i'll give them a call- I looked at a room for rent today (need to move Sept 1) and really liked the place and the roommate....took the 44 bus to get there, which goes right by this restaurant- so, if all goes well, I will be living up in that neck of the woods and going by on the bus often, meaning I will definitely be trying the food, and will report back! met someone on the bus today who had eaten there and really liked it, she got a smile on her face when talking about the brussels sprouts!
