Ovvio Osteria

New Calabrian inspired restaurant in Merrifield/Dunn Loring with excellent Neopolian pizza crust. As they just opened, the whole restaurant is alert and attentive.

  1. I've been there 3 times. The pizza crust hasn't been entirely consistent. The first time the edge was fluffy and chewy but the last two times the edges have been more crispy. Nevertheless, the pizzas are pretty good. Right now they have a shortened lunch menu with any 2 items for $12. I had a nicely fried fritto misto and a margherita pizza. The fritto misto is lightly breaded and crunchy in the Italian tradition. The pizza had a very robust sauce which I enjoyed although I do prefer my crust to be more chewy vs. crispy.

Opening chef leaves because the owners want to dumb down the restaurant.

What a bummer! We just went here for the first time last weekend for brunch and really enjoyed it. Although my bolognese sauce is better, the fresh pasta made all the difference in the world. My husband had the pork milanese benedict, which sounds a little weird, but it was very tasty!

Lasagna and chicken parm indeed (not that there's anything wrong with that.)

        Thanks for posting.
