Kuala Lumpur - Fab Chinese Desserts at KTZ (记得食), Kepong

This legendary KTZ (or "Kei Tak Sek", Cantonese for "Remember to Eat") dessert stall is famous for its "Sai Mai Loh" (ice-blended desserts) and other sweet traditional Chinese desserts: peanut soup ("Fa Sang Woo"), etc. These days, the little road-side stall has branches all over Kuala Lumpur. The one I visited this evening was the oiginal, having operated here in Kepong for nearly half a century.

Some of the desserts we tried this evening:

- "Tong sui", sweet dessert soup with longans, lychees, white fungus, lily buds and lotus seeds. It was stupendous - perfectly balanced flavours, not too sweet like in other places around KL.

- "Fa Sang Woo", a thick, unctuous peanut soup that ismy ultimate favourite dessert in Chinese spots like this. Liquid peanut butter :-)

- Red bean soup with lotus seeds - another ubiquitous Chinese dessert, perfectly prepared here.

I'm beginning to understand why KTZ has lasted so long - they do their offerings *very* well indeed.
