Try the Mercado Portales--here are some recommendations from TimeOut Mexico: http://www.timeoutmexico.mx/df/compra... Caveat: I haven't been, so can't tell you from personal experience how these places are.

Coyoacan, with a lot available, is only a couple of Metro stops away, at Metro General Anaya. We like to have breakfast at Restaurante Villa Coral, Allende 35, across the street from the Foro Cultural Coyoacanense. It's not fabulous, but it's not bad, either. If classical music interests you, there is an excellent and free noon concert every other week at the Foro. The next one is on the 15th, then the 29th, etc.

It's been a while, but the Coyoacan restaurant Danzantes was pretty good the last time I was there. It's not as good as the one in Oaxaca, but worth seeking out.

Also, you're really close to La Viga market--it's the 2nd largest fish market in the world. There are countless restaurants on and nearby. Most Mexicans don't realize it, but when they eat fish in a Puerta Vallarta restaurant, the fish was sold through La Viga (that's how DF taxes it).
