New job in Liberty Village

So last week I started a new gig in Liberty Village and was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I took a buddy to lunch at Maizal; it was absolutely some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. Any hounds want to weigh in on some must eats here? Especially for lunch...

Thanks for the Maizal rec. This place has been on my radar for a while, but I hadn't heard much about it.

Mildred's Temple Kitchen is supposed to be pretty good.

It's not lunch, but if you're looking for something sweet, For the Love of Cake is supposed to make really good cupcakes.

Remember Kwass, you can edit your previous posts so that you don't have to reply 3 times to a single post - you could have just added to your first one.

Maizal's great - try mixing whatever you're having with the poblano peppers.

As for LV, it's unfortunately devoid of any decent food. There was a great sandwich place here once, but it closed down, sadly, despite being quite busy. The burrito place near the dance studio is pretty good, if it's still open... but yeah, there's not much here.

Origin is pretty good if you want a higher-end lunch, but that's really about it.

            I know! I know! I'm working on that ;)

If you have a car, Grand Electric is a 5 minute drive from there.

Ended up at Origin last night. The mozzarella with honey and pear, and the duck wraps were pretty good. My friend thought the same dishes tasted a little better/fresher at the Bayview Village location. I haven't tried the same dishes at BV, so I can't compare.

Wish I'd read about Maizal- I didn't realize they opened for dinner some nights ( it think Wed-Sat?) until a few minutes ago. Are Origin and Maizal the best bets for dinner in LV these days?

Yes indeed - Origin and Maizal are the best bets. There's another restaurant, "25 Liberty", but we had a poor experience there last year and have not been back since as yet.

We're going to go if/when we have some time though (soon), to give it another shot.

I've also had a couple of nice breakfasts at School

I LOVE School Bakery!! Also, the Drake isn't too far from Liberty Village. That's someplace you might want to check out.

I too love Maizal. Their tortillas are made in-store and you can buy them in the dozens to take home.
25 Liberty is my new favourite in the village. Always really good lunch deals - very solid, well-executed food. Patio to boot.
Naomi (across from West Elm on Atlantic) has amazing lunch ramen deals. Far from authentic - but its honest, home-cooked food for cheap.
