How to create a link to a web site in chowhounds.

I have a lengthy report on our trip, so did a draft in Word, adding in the links to Hotels & restaurants. When copied over they don't show up as a link. Help!

When you post something that starts with "http://" it will automatically linkify once you submit the post.

Here's a link to the main page of this site:

    http://chowhound.chow.com/

All I did was type in the URL -- no need to add anchors or anything of the sort, and the software did the rest.

Wish we could use HTML to embed a URL in text (e.g. a restaurant name with a link to its website). That would be a nice improvement at some point.

This is a test to see if it works for me.

Links to hotels are permitted on CH?

The focus of Chowhound is food, not lodging, but there are certainly hotels that serve food! Plus, if you have a report about a trip and want to mention where you stayed, it would be fine to put in a link to the hotel. Overall though, trip recaps should be pretty food focused. Hope that clears things up?

Thanks Dave. We did eat at the Hotels, but will only provide the link to the restaurant.
