Encinitas help!

We are moving to the Encinitas area from SD and need some advice for dining of all kinds. I already have Kaito and Via Italia Trattoria on the short list. What about other places for Thai, Mexican, Italian, more pizza, seafood? I'm still prob going to have to head out to Convoy for Vietnamese and yakitori though.
Besically any gems are appreciated. We love all cuisines. I'm going to miss my usual places but it will be fun to find new ones.

  1. Big fan of the following in your immediate area:

    The 3rd Corner
    Blue Ribbon Artisan Pizza
Encinitas Ale House (pretty good burgers)
    Solace and the Moonlight Lounge
    Q'ero (Peruvian).

    In Cardiff:

    In Rancho Santa Fe:
    Veladora at Rancho Valencia

Any suggestions for fish? We go to the Fishery and PB Fish Market and also El Pescador. Would love to find something like that there.

It's not my favorite, but a lot of people seem to like Fish 101 on PCH in Leucadia.

Pelly's Fish Market in south Carlsbad (off of Poinsettia) would probably fit your criteria, too.

For fish I usually go up to Fish House Vera Cruz up in carlsbad. nice drive at sunset up the 101. or go down to the fish market in SB. Bretts BBQ is actually pretty good but there is no real competition in that area. I like the old school mex of Fidels or Tonys in SB. Especial Norte is good for mex soups. Jorges has a great mex chicken soup. Take out pizza< usually just give Flippin a call.

      2. Siamese Basil for Thai
Pizza Port (solana beach) for pizza or Blue Ribbon for upscale or a great locals hidden gem is BestaWan Pizza
El Callejon for Mexican/ Rico's Taco Shop for healthy take out
Pacific Coast Grill, Beach house for Seafood (cardiff)

        1. Aug. 20 is Taste of Main Street, where you can sample dishes from some of the restaurants mentioned already (Blue Ribbon, Solace, El Callejon, etc.). It gets to be a zoo as the evening wears on, and it only covers the 101 in Encinitas (no Cardiff or Leucadia) but it can be a good way to see which places you'd like to check out further.

Haggo's Tacos in Leucadia (lunch only); Elizabethan Desserts (moving from Sunshine Gardens nursery to El Camino and Encinitas Blvd., and she's put a pie shop in at the nursery in its place); Nekter Juice Bar, to add to what others have already added...

          1. A new Encinitas seafood place (i.e. Lobster Rolls, Crab Rolls & Shrimp Rolls) is on my "To Eat" List:

            Lobster West
            765 South Coast Highway
            760 634-1684

My s.o. went on Thursday. She thought the lobster roll was decent not great. The counter staff needs lots o' improvement and she thought customers were really rude. She was asked twice if she and her friends could hurry up and finish so they could have a place to sit, and my s.o.'s group really were not dawlding. Those people must be lo-lo-cals or people that live south of Via de.
