Ok, I've been sitting on the sidelines for this whole Cronuts craze, but now I'm kind of curious about it myself and might even want to try it no matter how small-hat hipster-ish or worse that may make me feel.
So where do I go to try it in LA ?????
Ok, finally tried it at DKs.
And those things are pretty disgusting. And not disgusting in a good way. i can't even write in complete sentences since it was so bad. the price was bad too, but the icky feeling and about five pounds to add to the jelly rolls is not not not good.
i may have to swear off desserts and donuts for some time. mabye the closest i'm getting to sweets for now is a whiskey sour.
anyhow, they are quite affable, garrulous, and friendly. the kids running the place i mean.
i would have rather had one of my favorite chocolate croissants instead or a couple of donuts from primo's but for now, none will do.
bula, i should have listened to you and now i'm out $11 bucks. for two subpar treats.
though they do have a great marketing concept that they are running with, and the daughter i believe of the original owner is quite cute.
anyhow, i don't know if i'll even give frances a try. mabye but prolly a few weeks at the very least.
sorry, sorry, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. i also had to meet with my hard-working shrink a couple days earlier than usual.
another weird thing is that there other donuts are reasonably prices at the going rate of about 95c or a buck ????
but this is over five time that price.
then again, why not milk the craze as long as it goes. and i doubt that this craze will last.
come fall, and there will be a new shitty fad, the bellwether of which has not reared its ugly head just yet.
