Have to go to Upland tonight after work. Previous threads are a bit outdated. My prelimary searching has led to me to a South Indian place called Ashirwad, and to the King Taco branch in Ontario. If anyone has any suggestions for some good chow in the area, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Caffe Allegro in downtown on 2nd Street. French/Italian. We used to go there quite often when we lived in the area. Do not go to Christophe's. It's just not that great for the prices they charge.
There's plenty of sushi in Upland, too. Arigato on Foothill was a haunt of ours. Not a fan of the Mora teppanyaki place down the street.
If you're willing to drive another 15 mins or so to Chino, go to Owen's Bistro (New American). Dinners there are amazing. Chef James and his wife, Denise, will take good care of you.
Claremont offers Back Abbey for beers and great burgers.
In Upland, Joey's BBQ has good barbeque and sides and great beef ribs.
If you can make it over to Claremont (15 minutes or so), you can go to Viva Madrid for tapas. It can get very busy, so there might be a wait.
Also in downtown Claremont is Walter's which has a large menu but I personally love the lamb burger with Afghani fries.
Cafe Allegro in La Verne is also good for Italian.
Hmmm....not sure if this will fit your category of "good", but just a few miles away, on Foothill in Rancho Cucamonga is Vince's Spaghetti. I went there for the first time in almost 20 years a few months back and it was exactly the same as I remember (only I could order booze now!) Greasy bright orange meat sauce, terrific garlic bread, big leather booths...it gets crazy busy there, though. I tried to go there just before Christmas (at 6PM on a Friday) and the wait was over an hour for 2. Went back in April on a Sunday around 4:30, and only had to wait about 15 minutes. I ordered a full size dinner (which is TONS of food) just so I could have lots of leftovers. It's that good.
