Where can I get the best Smoked Salmon/Lox by the pound in the West Island?

i second this choice. it is pricey but it is one of the best options in the city - quite comparable to new victoria

Not West Island, but the best I've had is Oven Head from NB.

Really, really good - a cut above.

Available at Atwater market, probably other places too.

I second that recommendation. The fishmonger at Atwater Market helped pay to build the new mokehouse at Ovenhead a small smoker 45kms from Saint John NB to get market exclusivities.I would go so far as to say it is the best Smoked Salmon in Eastern Canada. It worth the drive into town if you really appreciate world class Smoked Salmon.

I have often heard of ovenhead but I have never tried it. The Best I've ever had is wolfhead, also from NB. I wonder which one takes 1st place!

The best in my opinion is by far the one from Poissonnerie du Marché at Marché Public 440 in Laval (Formerly know as Guidney's in st-laurent) I saw the clerck opening a new package and there was a logo on it, I didn't get a chance to see what company it was from but it is to die for.

She specifically asked for one in the west island, not laval or atwater market.. Just sayin...

Thank you all...I was told that fish store had closed...since I am new to the area I never went by. Will try it. Tried the one in Marche and it was good but expensive and tasted like the Victoria fish store's..so it was indeed good. $$$$

No I don't actually know if the fish store on Sources is closed...I must try to see it. I was 'told' it closed.

no it's not closed, just changed hands and hasn't changed in any significant ways

Is there a thread for broader sources of good smoked salmon in Mtl?

I get mine at the PA, at $35/kg. Pretty decent quality, I'd give it a B+.

There are usually two kinds at PA (on fort) I like them both a lot but at Atwater market you can get much better which is much more expensive (ovenhead)

Has anyone tried Lawrence's yet? It's labeled as wild so I'm assuming it's from the Pacific, looks like Sockeye.
