MKE - Has anyone tried Bavette La Boucherie?

This place sounds interesting. A butcher shop and wine bar. Impressive credentials as well working at Charlie Trotter and Publican in Chicago.

Yes. Only had sandwiches and a couple of the small plates. It was excellent.

Meat selection is highly overpriced for what they are selling with the exceptionof their sausages, but this is still a unique addition to Milwaukee. Small, boutiquey wine menu and only a couple of offerings a day for food- usually a sandwich, a salad and a soup. I have been several times and the offerings have always been good but if you are familiar with Publican Quality Meats in Chicago, this does not compare.

So far I've only purchased steaks for grilling, but I thought there were excellent. Also had a roast beef sandwich from their lunch menu (to-go), and I though it was terrific too.

The select of meats in the case always looks a bit skimpy to me. You should ask if you don't see what you want. The cheese list looks good, but I haven't purchased any. I'd like to see more on display because I think it's hard to see what they have and I might buy more if I could see it.

Agree that the prices are high, but food shopping in MKE in general is a little disappointing IMO, so I'm glad to pay more to have something like this in town.
