BBQ Chicken at Panaderia Costa Chica in Healdsburg

My husband rarely raves about anything, but here's his review:

We stopped by after eating at Taqueria Guadalajara (also great) and, although full, we were drawn to the BBQ pit. Chickens were being BBQed and we tried a 2 pound bag. Best chicken I have ever had - smokey and perfectly cooked. We had it two nights in a row and I can't wait to go back and get some more. We were there on a Sunday so I don't know if they BBQ everyday and if they only do chicken. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Panaderia Costa Chica: 119 Healdsburg Ave.

Any other CHers tried this? And are there other recommended places for bbqed chicken in Sonoma County?

  1. I've been paying attention and Costa Chica also has pollo asado grilled outside on Fridays and Saturdays too that I've noticed. They do smell wonderful.

And taste even better! We may have to go up next weekend for a fix...

    2. Today I saw that both Costa Chica market and the adjacent panaderia have new signage and new owner application. It's now La Tradición.

I stopped to look at what's on the outdoor grill. All chicken legs, but they were these odd shaved off pieces like I had at Estrella's last year,

It's been a long while since I'd had the chicken at Costa Chica, but weren't those half birds?

Yes, they were half birds before. I hope that it will still be as good. We drove by there on Thursday on our way north but didn't stop to see what was on the grill.

Thanks, glad to know that I remembered correctly.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have seen Casa del Mole in Healdsburg grilling chickens in the parking lot on weekends.

Nice - a new place to check out. Thanks!
