French Macaroons in Washington DC

deliza Aug 1, 2013 07:52 AM

Anyone know of a good place to get authentic French macarons in Washington, DC? I am preferably looking for a place you can pay and go, like a bakery, instead of a sit-down restaurant.

Macarons - the French spelling - are available at Pralines in the shopping center just off MacArthur Blvd, just north of the DC-MoCo boundary. They are very good, as are all their baked goods. Worth the trip. I can't speak to availability of macarons within the boundary of the District of Columbia itself but macarons are so popular that I'd bet they are widely available. Just by googling, I found Macaron Bee in Georgetown, DC Patisserie, The Sweet Lobby, Locolat...

Locolat is a good place, but the macarons are not made in house and are, in general. too sweet. Sweet Lobby not strong on flavor.

Michel Patisserie macarons are pretty good as well. You order online and then pick them up at establishments around town the next day. Can't remember all the locations but I know one is in Arlington which isn't far from DC proper.

The various locations for Paul have macarons. Macaron Bee is also good.

Hi, I just tried this place in Georgetown while on a recent visit. I have eaten macaroons maybe only once before so not sure how they stack up with what you are looking for, but I thought they were very good. I had salted caramel, coffee, and coconut.
