Kuala Lumpur - Chilli Crabs from Fresh Fried Seafood Restaurant (九月天海鲜饭店)
Interesting new discovery for me - this family-style restaurant churned out the *best-tasting* chilli crab I'd tasted in KL thus far - I guess best-tasting is used rather subjectively here: I found Fresh Fried Seafood's rendition to be almost exactly like what Singaporeans call chilli crabs, i.e. tomatoey, eggy, spicy, sweetish, unlike the scald-your-tongue salty versions I encounter in almost every other spot I'd been to in KL.
Fresh-fried "mantou" bread were served to mope up the delicious gravy here. My only complaint: *not* enough gravy provided with the local mud crabs.
Other dishes were okay, not spectacular:
- Braised egg tofu with snake gourd and carrot.
- Snake-head fish fillets with ginger and scallions.
I'd come back for the chilli crabs.
