El Cerrito Off the Grid

went here tonight. we arrived at about 7:45 and while some trucks noted items that were sold out, there was still plenty to choose from. trucks in attendance tonight were:

The Chairman
Arki Chicken
Senor Sisig
Twister Truck
Liba Falafel

there were at least 3 more trucks that i didn't find listed on Off The Grid's vendor list and can't remember (a Korean, Mexican...?), one of which was a cute ice cream truck with penguins on it that sold frozen custard, and which had the longest line in front of it when we got there, even on a cold, gray evening.

we split the chairman's steamed pork belly and tofu buns, the fried chicken and beignets (ridiculously rich and dripping with honey), and a bowl of pork adobo with rice. my favorite was the pork belly, my sister's the donut. after all that, the frozen custard was not going to happen.

parking nearby was easy, the waits were very short, and there was still seating (no tables) and some live music playing.

i'm looking forward to trying trucks i've not been to. Berkeley's loss is El Cerritos' gain!

  1. I talked with a couple of friends who went last week. They were there on the early side, maybe 5:30, said it wasn't crowded. They liked the Filipino tacos at Senor Sisig (I think it was).
