Lunch between Sac and Ashland where we'll stop for two days. Then onto PDX. Heard Lily's in Mt. Shasta is closed. That was always a fallbackstop for lunch. And north of Ashland - new territory for this Chowhoundon the road.
This thread has ideas up to the Oregon border.http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/910174
Then for the segment of I-5 in Oregon, you'll need to check the Pacific Northwest board, such as this topic.http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/897048
Lily's is under new ownership as of a couple of months ago. Haven't tried but looked over the new menu, a number of additions of dishes with Asian influences.
Casa Ramos does a decent seafood molcajete in Mt. Shasta City.
Glad to hear, didn't think much of the quality of the food from the previous owners. Hope this will signal an upgrade. The original owners did an amazing job, IMHO
Totally agree. Drove by the Trinity Cafe on N. Mt. Shasta Blvd on the way in (Thurs night), quite a few cars out front, wondering if they're back on their game?
I will be up there in Sept. Will try and check it out....I have had sone great meals there in years past, owned by the same people who bought Cafe Magdelena from the original owner
In Mt. Shasta you might want to try Billy Goat Tavern for lunch, or in Dunsmuir, Cornrstone Bakery.
