bawarchi indian kitchen price increase

maybe, because i haven't been there in a while, but i don't remember the prices being this high:

3 cups of vegetarian food (i.e. 3 to-go containers that hold one cup each), no bread, no rice, no condiments, cost $19.50.

    1. Never eaten there but the question is... Is it worth it? :)

one of those existential questions.. . .
since i no longer have regular cravings for indian food in general, someone else would be better qualified to answer.

i've just had the jackfruit so far, and it was tasty.
i probably would be more enthusiastic/postitive if okra had been available today

I always thought the to-go containers were a little much, IDK if he upped the price for the combo meals that come with rice, salad, naan, raita and a couple curries but whatever he charged before (8-11 dollars, I forgot) I always thought was worth it. The curries there are all really good. Their food in general is really good. I like their jalapeno curry a lot and I also really like their fake meat curries. Try it and see for yourself,it's definitely worth a try.

i have a container of the jalepeno curry in the fridge for my 3AM meal in a few hours.

also have a container of the saag. i like his saag better than that of all the other nearby indian restaurants because he adds mustard greens to it and they make the whole dish MUCH more flavorful to my palate.

not a big fan of fake meat, so will avoid that.
this visit, i noticed that half the counter was devoted to REAL meat.. . .

Seems like there might be other better options to cure my Indian food cravings :)

                hi westsidegal,

wow half of Bawarchi is devoted to real meat now?! what happened to his vegan stance?

                1. re: chowseeker1999

dunno what happened to his stance, but i CAN tell you that, as you face the counter the real meat dishes will be in the half of the counter that is to your right (i.e. the north side of the counter) and the vegetarian dishes will be on the side of the counter to your left (the south side).

          2. go to mayura, next door. see what happens.

i tried the mayura lunch buffet a year or two ago,
sadly, it didn't appeal to me.

Didn't like Mayura's buffet at all. However, I was much more impressed with the food I ordered off the menu.

                  good to know.
i'll try ordering a la carte next time to see what i missed.
